Overtraining. Argh. I've pushed a little too hard maybe.
On Monday after an easy morning run in the forest I ended up with a headache and upset stomach--yet hungry--and just felt like yuck all day. Tuesday, still feeling like yuck (and same headache) I ran an easy 4. And by Tuesday, I could add to the list;moodiness, needing more sleep (but can't), feeling a bit down, and even not looking forward to another run! Wednesday, still feeling like yuck and waking up with legs yelling I took the day off.
Today I *should be* doing 8-10, and I'm going to run but I'm not sure how many miles because I think listening to what my body says is real important right now. I have less than 3 weeks to go before my first attempt at 50 miles. I've been working hard because I missed several weeks of training due to injury. But now, with whatever training I have or don't have I need to make sure I go into this race feeling fresh and not exhausted. Right now I feel exhausted...well... maybe another day off.
I heard this somewhere and I think it's true: Always better to go into a race a bit little undertrained than a little bit injured.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the 50, Lori! It's a wonderful distance. A full day of lovely running.
Agree with Pam. Rest is good. You know what to do. Get better.
